Marion Cotillard's Beauty
As on Tuesday, Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenarts continued to film for ‘Un goût de rouille et d’os‘ (Rust & Bone) on a private beach called Goéland in Cannes yesterday (source). Their characters Stéphanie and Ali were taking a dip in the ocean. Marion was seen sitting in a wheelchair and it was made to look as if she was wearing prosthetics from the knees downwards. Although the production was trying hard to cut off the view to the set to ensure privacy many of the pictures taken seem very intrusive (those are not included in this update) so I hope production moves to a more secluded area soon.

I added a few additional pictures from October 5 when Marion Cotillard was rehearsing with the orca whales in Marineland at Antibes, France. Then you can also enjoy new pictures from last Saturday at the same place. It is currently unclear whether those were more rehearsals or actual filming took place. And then you can also see pictures taken in Cannes yesterday, where Marion Cotillard was seen filming scenes while being in character and walking on a crutch.

While filming for ‘Un gouût de rouille et d’os‘ (Rust and Bone) caused a closure of the sea front road between Fort Carré and la Siesta from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today (source), Marion Cotillard continued her training with the orcas at Antibes’ Marineland. I added a bunch of pics taken today to the gallery.

NiceMatincom reports that filming for Jacques Audiard’s new movie ‘Un goût de rouille et d’os‘ (Rust and Bone) starring Marion Cotillard started yesterday in Antibes. Marion herself wasn’t on the set but she arrived on the Côte d’Azur on Monday and spent Tuesday afternoon at the Antibes Marineland in rehearsals to be able to portray an orca trainer. She will return in November to film her scenes.

“We shot Marion Cotillard in Montauk, New York. She was up for an Oscar for La Vie En Rose. An assistant was holding my legs – I was hanging off a cliff. Looking at the photograph, you feel like you’re there. You can taste the wind and smell the ocean. You can see in her eyes how windy it was. All the elements of nature are in this, plus her sincerity and beauty.” – Ryan McGinley

‘Un goût de rouille et d’os‘ (Rust and Bones) co-star Matthias Schoenarts recently won the Best Actor prize at the Flanders Film Awards in Belgium for his role in ‘Rundskop‘. Cinevox.be interviewed him about his upcoming projects. He revealed that he got the male lead role in Jacques Audiard’s ‘Un goût de rouille et d’os‘ after several auditions and that he’s done 6 weeks of rehearsals with Marion Cotillard in Paris (I’m not sure when those rehearsals took place). Filming will start this month and last 70 days. In the video interview he praises both Jacques Audiard and Marion Cotillard, says that they are geniuses and interesting people. Sadly, I don’t speak Dutch to understand more than that.

The latter can’t be viewed from outside the US so many thanks to Iria from Damian Lewis Web for sending it in for our video archive. It’s especially interesting because she says her character in ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ is not based on the comic books – which means that the speculation that her character Miranda Tate might be an alias for her real character Talia al Ghul might prove to be just that, specualation only.

Marion Cotillard appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night to promote ‘Contagion‘. From the moment she stepped on stage the two displayed germophobia by refusing to touch & kiss when they greeted each other. Apart from that they talked about how Marion loves Will Ferrell and laughed over language matters. Sadly it was equally short as the Jimmy Fallon interview the day before.

I added HQ screencaptures of Marion Cotillard’s appearance on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show. They compared their version of Taxi they both starred in (French & US version), then talked about Marion not getting to work with any of the big name co-stars of ‘Contagion‘ and germs in general. I thought their comic timing was perfectly insync and they had the same kind of slightly off-beat sense of humour.

Wearing black floor length Christian Dior dress from the Fall 2011 collection – with an embroidered lace skirt, embellishment details on the chest and a sexy open back – together with a cute braided updo Marion Cotillard looked perfect on Wednesday’s New York premiere of ‘Contagion‘. I started adding pictures, expect more soon.

Only a few more hours until the episode of The Late Night with Jimmy Fallon featuring a new interview with Marion Cotillard air on US TV channel NBC. As a preview I added pictures from the taping earlier today (Wednesday). She was wearing a gorgeous one-shoulder blue cocktail dress by Lanvin. Many thanks to Roberta from Leonardo DiCaprio Fan for sending in the pictures.

We posted about the rumours before, but it’s a rumour no longer. Marion Cotillard has been confirmed to have a role in Jacques Audiard’s next movie ‘Un goût de rouille et d’os‘ according to Le Film Français. You need to be registered to read the article but PurePeople has the information as well. Co-starring in the ensemble movie will be Matthias Schoenaerts, Céline Sallette, and Bouli Lanners. Filming will start at the end of September and last 8 weeks – taking place in the North of France, in the area of Paris and at the Côte d’Azur. [edit:] According to Variety filming will take place for a total of 12 weeks and lists Belgium as additional shooting location.

While it is as of yet unclear whether Marion Cotillard will head to Venice for Saturday’s world premiere of ‘Contagion‘ before taping her talk show appearances it seems that the John Cameron Mitchell-directed new Dior commercial is being filmed this week in Los Angeles (source: Ceasar Fernando Barajas). [edit:] According to Terry Mcshane and Alexa Michelle they’re filming today.

The success story of ‘Midnight in Paris‘ is continuing. It has now taken $50 million at the U.S. box office – and is now Woody Allen’s top-grossing film of all time at the US box office. It had overtaken both Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Match Point‘s gross of $23.2 million in late June and has since beaten the $40.1 million earned 25 years ago by Hannah and Her Sisters.

Sony Pictures Classics have now announced their plans for a wide US re-release of ‘Midnight in Paris‘ as of August 26 (likely to expand to 900-1000 theatres as opposed to the current 400). The re-release will be accompanied by new TV ads. It seems like the studio to get the best out of the movie – both in terms of profit and Oscar buzz.

Marion Cotillard graces the cover of the French Elle magazine on newsstands today. In the interview, she reportedly confides about love, motherhood and cinema. I can’t wait for the interview. Most exciting is the gorgeous vacation-themed 17-page photospread.

“Contagion” follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

Marion Cotillard’s latest campaign for Dior — co-starring the chain-handled Miss Dior handbag — breaks Monday in Italian magazine Amica, followed by Madame Figaro and British Elle on July 16. A range of September magazines are slated to carry the sun-dappled ads by Mikael Jansson, including Vanity Fair.

Good news, the release date of Marion’s upcoming movie ‘Contagion‘ has been moved ahead 6 weeks. Instead of on October 21 it will now be released in the US on September 9, 2011 (source). Hopefully, also the release dates in other countries will be moved ahead.
