Just wanted to express how excited I was that the curvy 35 year old TV star Christina Hendricks from Mad Men and Firefly was named sexiest woman alive according to Esquire magazine, then was horrified when they did TERRIBLE photo editing to, get this, make her boobs seem smaller!?
Christina Hendricks Image 02
What is wrong with this picture? Honestly, does that corset make sense in relation to Christina's breasts at all? The cup only seems to fill half of her breast, and the underwire cuts her boob in half leaving the rest of her boob to blur as part of her side. Especially if you look at the photos below of her in presumably the same corset outfit from the same photo shoot:

These photos show completely different breasts although she's in the same outfit. My question is that if Esquire claims that she's the sexiest in the world, and applauds her on ber beautiful natural curves, then why on Earth do they alter a photo to make her breasts seem smaller? Are breasts not "in style"? Below is a photo of Christina from a different photo shoot in which I believe her figure is shown more accurately, and you tell me if those boobs could have fit into the corset in the first Esquire picture!

After some interviews with her, she does not seem to have a negative view of her body at all. She doesn't even complain that she has a difficult time finding designers to make her clothes and dresses. Instead she finds that there are designers and clothes out there that work for her. Kudos to you, Christina, for being beautiful and confident!

Hendricks, who in July 2010 was a U.S. size 14,as received considerable positive attention due to her voluptuous figure. She has been credited as a role model for full-figured women and was nicknamed the "sexiest woman in the world" in 2010 in a poll of female readers taken by Esquire magazine.

British Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone praised Hendricks' hourglass figure as an ideal shape for women, saying "Christina Hendricks is absolutely fabulous... We need more of these role models. There is such a sensation when there is a curvy role model. It shouldn't be so unusual." Hendricks commented in September 2010 that the media is too focused on women's bodies and not their actual talents, "I was working my butt off on the show [Mad Men] and then all anyone was talking about was my body."A study by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons attributed a 10% rise in 2010 of the number of British women receiving breast augmentation surgery in part to Hendricks' influence.

Los Angeles Times television critic Mary McNamara says her portrayal of Joan Holloway has revolutionized perceptions of beauty on television She has been called the "new modern ideal of Hollywood glamour—full figured, voluptuous; a throwback to the days of Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell and Veronica Lake." British designer Vivienne Westwood selected her to represent its "Get A Life" Palladium jewelry collection in March 2011. Westwood described Hendricks as "the embodiment of beauty."

I wish I had a celebrity friend to don a headband for me on Etsy. This chick from LA did just that. She got her friend Christina Hendricks, yeah the sexy voluptuous one from Mad Men, to model her handmade felt scarves on her Etsy page. Felt scarves in LA? Anyway, in my opinion I think Giselle Bundchen could be selling these scarves nude for $2 at a Patriots game and no one would buy them, they’re pretty heinous. But, I have to give Black Bird Design House credit for their savvy.

I’m breaking a lot of my own rules by writing this post as we try to steer away from “hot chicks for hot chicks’ sake” galleries here unless they’re wearing Pikachu or Chun Li costumes or something, but I have to make an exception for Christina Hendricks. What can I say? The woman has magical powers.

I also wrote this post because unlike the legions of supermodels and actresses out there who have done dozens of photoshoots over their careers, Hendricks has done relatively few, and therefore there ain’t a whole lot of professional pictures that exist of her outside of three or so magazines and a few awards ceremonies, and I wanted to put the best ones all in one place for your viewing pleasure.

I’m hoping Maxim or Stuff or FHM will read this, and stop calling Heidi Montag and do shoots of a REAL woman like Hendricks, who is destroying notions of ideal body types with her logic-defying curves. Also, she needs more movie and TV roles outside of Mad Men.

I’ve posted of some of these pictures because they’re obviously hot, but some are just funny, and some are from Firefly because well, Firefly is awesome.

A handful of readers with an eye for detail (and sexy television actresses) correctly guessed that the famous lady in question was none other than Christina Hendricks, one of the breakout stars from AMC’s smash hit Mad Men. That’s her on the right.

The photo is from a feature about summer shooters (think booze, not lunatics) in Playboy’s July 1999 issue. The fact that she can still bring the sexy even with that terrifying clown looming in the background is a fine testament to her off the charts beauty. And there’s more! Check out this outtake from the same shoot:

Christina Hendricks began as a guest star on “Mad Men” — she was in only two scenes in the pilot — but her Joan Holloway (now Joan Harris) quickly became one of the most recognizable characters on AMC’s perpetually praised midcentury drama.

The role of Joan grew when the series creator Matthew Weiner became interested in the dynamic between Ms. Hendricks’s character and Elisabeth Moss’s striving Peggy Olson, Ms. Hendricks said in a phone interview this week. “It’s hard to imagine a Peggy without a Joan and a Joan without a Peggy,” she said.

Ms. Hendricks took advantage of the longer-than-anticipated “Mad Men” hiatus this year, performing in a concert staging of Stephen Sondheim’s “Company” at Lincoln Center in April and in several movies. Two films, the thriller “Drive” and the light comedy “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” open on Friday.

Recently she has been back in “Mad Men” mode. The series resumed production last month, and on Sunday she’ll appear at the Emmy Awards, where for the second consecutive year she’s a nominee for best supporting actress in a drama.

Don’t Know How She Does It is about all the responsibilities that a modern-day working woman has to juggle, and nobody knows that sort of thing better than Christina Hendricks, who’s been busy promoting her co-starring roles in I Don’t Know How and Drive, which are both out this Friday. She’s also got plenty more on her plate since the fifth season of Mad Men just started shooting, and Hendricks segued to that immediately after finishing up a part in the comedy Struck by Lightning, which was scripted by Glee‘s Chris Colfer. Luckily, Vulture found some time to chat with Hendricks last night at the I Don’t Know How premiere, where she filled us in on her sweet Emmy plans.

The director of I Don’t Know How She Does It said that he cast you in this role because he knew you could bring a real warmth to it. It’s certainly different from what I do most of the year, which is play Joan on Mad Men, and it’s a romantic comedy, and she’s the best friend, and it has this sense of humor throughout. And it was nice and refreshing to do modern day, so it was a no-brainer for me.

Did you have any idea this would come out the same weekend as Drive? They’re such different roles. Completely different movies, completely different characters, yes. I had no idea. I finished Mad Men, and maybe within the month I finished Drive, and then a month went by, and then I did this. To be honest, the real reason I did Drive was because of Nicolas Winding Refn, the director. I had seen Bronson and I was floored by it, and I said, “I want to work with this guy. I don’t care what it is.” And this is a smaller role, but I just wanted to be part of what he was doing, and it’s an instrumental role, and I think it’s really different than anything else I’ve ever done, and an opportunity to work with Ryan [Gosling] … there were so many reasons to do it. And I love that I actually have these coming out on the same night, on the opposite end of the spectrum of movies, both enjoyable in completely different ways.

After almost two years of marriage, Christina Hendricks is still learning it’s all right to ask her husband to run to the grocery store. “My husband does so much to help me, and I do as much to help him as possible,” Hendricks, 36, told PEOPLE at the I Don’t Know How She Does It premiere Monday in New York. “If one day he’s off from work, he’ll help me to do something – and vice versa.”

Amid two busy careers, the actress and hubby Geoffrey Arend make it work by giving each other a little grace, Hendricks said during the Cinema Society-hosted after party at the Hudson Hotel. In her new film, Hendricks plays a single working mom, but the actress says she’s not quite ready for a baby yet. “At least not any time soon,” she said. “I feel busy enough right now.”

But there’s always time in the Emmy-nominated Mad Men star’s home for a good meal. Arend, 33, is “an amazing cook,” Hendricks said, so she’s trying to stop feeling guilty when he takes care of the groceries. “You don’t have to feel guilty about it. And sometimes, [he] really enjoys it! I think he’s surpassed me now in his culinary talents.”. “We’ve been doing a lot of traveling and different jobs and going back and forth,” she said. “I don’t freak myself out if something doesn’t happen.

Christina Hendricks, best known for her character Joan in the TV show Mad Men, has the porcelain skin, impeccable makeup, and phenomenal hair color that make you think, “I need to talk beauty with this woman.” I recently got this opportunity after meeting her (and seeing her incredible skin in person—it’s flawless) at a lunch kicking off the Latisse Wishes Challenge, for which she is the spokesperson. I asked the Emmy-nominated 36-year-old Prevention’s 5 DYA Questions. And it turns out, her secrets are actually just sticking to the basics: healthy facial skin care products and a great lipstick.
